Get Out the Blankets and Jackets

by on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Holy crap this weather sure turned ugly fast. One day its 90 degrees out and the air conditioner is cranking its heart out. The next day it’s 40 degrees and I’m thinking about turning on the fucking heat.

Most days I don’t even think of a jacket as I head out the door. This morning, that was a big mistake. I thought that the little bit of time I was outside between my front door and the truck door would not be a big deal even it is was a bit nipply. But damn – the chill stayed with me the entire way to work. I am still cold.

Watch me end up getting sick from this fucking weather change. It seems to me that every time we switch from summer to fall the people around here start getting sick with the flu and strep throat. I hate being around sick people – it makes me paranoid as hell. People who are sick need to stay the fuck at home and not be spreading the germs around to the rest of us. Especially the people who work at schools and day care centers, bus drivers, and fast food workers. Keep your germs at home people – I don’t have time for getting sick like you losers.

Daytime TV

by on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

There is never anything on daytime TV for guys to watch, even if you have cable. We have a few hundred channels and most of the programming is crap. I am home sick from work and bored out of my mind. I can’t sleep, but there is nothing to do. So right now I am watching reruns of Sons of Guns all day long. I will probably watch the whole thing, because then at least I will have watched the entire season. At least it is a guy show for a change.

I suppose I can check out the on demand stuff later if I want. Bah, I hate being sick. The flu sucks. At least I have some of this cold medicine that knocks you out for a little while. I will sleep in about an hour and if I am lucky I will stay that way for a while. I guess I should be thankful that I can at least watch cable. We never had that when we were kids. The only shows during the day were soapĀ operas to watch with mom. Ugh ! Those were the worst. At least until cartoons came on. Hey I have cartoon channels. Maybe I will watch some of those.

Jellyfish

by on Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

The long, hot Memorial Day weekend was ruined for most of the Atlantic Coast beaches in Florida because of jellyfish. The news reported that over 800 people were stung and sought medical treatment in just one day due to jellyfish stings.

The type of jellyfish that washed in from the Atlantic Ocean were called “mauve stingers,” and appeared to be about the size of a baseball with long tentacles that sting unwary swimmers. These are different from the Man o’War jellyfish and the ones they call “cannonball” jellyfish. I wonder what caused such a large swarm to appear this particular weekend?

Bad day

by on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Today started out bad I did not feel good when I woke up and it has gotten worse as the day has went by. My grandson stayed the last couple of nights with us and he does not feel good either and for a small kid he is a major grump when he does not feel good. The weather is nice but when I go outside I feel worse, I guess it is from the ragweed and I am just going to stay inside the rest of the day and rest up for the work week ahead. I hope things get better as the rest of the day goes by and I hope it gets better quickly.

New passion

by on Wednesday, June 24th, 2009

As the weather has gotten warmer I have been out riding my bicycle a lot and I have decided to get a new bike and one for my wife too. We started looking at new bikes and found out that the local bike shops charge an arm and a leg for a new bike. We have been looking at Raleigh Bikes and Giant Bikes as well as some new bicycle accessories to make our rides even safer and a lot more comfortable. We have found a great web site with every kind of bike and bicycle accessories under the sun. National Cycles has a great web site with a huge selection of great bikes and all of the bicycle accessories you could ever think of buying, and on top of the selection their prices matched or even beat any of the local bike shops here in Nashville.

National Cycles is a top performer in my books and I will give them all of our bicycle business, they also have a lot of other products on their web site including books on riding and all kinds of bicycle gadgets to select from. I like looking at off the wall gadgets for bikes well for about anything including bikes too.

After we get our new bikes I would love to take a riding trip across Europe and that is on our list of great things to do when we retire here in a few years it will be a reality, one that I can not wait for. I wish it was retirement time already I am ready to hit the trail on my new Giant Bike and see the world.
