News and the World

by on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016

Watching the news and seeing the insane weather and various natural disasters that have been happening with great frequency is a bit scary. I am thankful that I live in a place that has very little of any of them. The earth quakes and volcanic eruptions along the pacific rim have been really devastating, and you couldn’t pay me enough to live in any of those areas. If I had been born there, I would leave any way possible. It’s just nuts !

Add to that the storms that seem to be stronger each year or perhaps we just didn’t hear about them as much before. That is probably it now that I think about it. With the internet, we hear about so much that we never did before that it amazes and scares us when we do. The world is connected now and news travels at the speed of light it seems. No matter what happens we have it all at the tips of our fingers and the reporters have a difficult time deciding what to show us as there is so much more now to see. I definitely do not envy them their jobs.

Rodents Predict the Weather Better than TV Guys

by on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013

Groundhog Day, when rodents prove they can predict the weather better than any of those TV guys. If you look at a calendar, we are 6 weeks out from the first day of Spring. Whether the groundhog sees his shadow or not, in 6 weeks it WILL be Spring.

And whatever weather happens in Pennsylvania has absolutely nothing to do with the weather that is happening in Nashville or any states other than PA, NJ, Delaware, NY, CT and MD.

Well played, groundhog. Well played.

Something very strange must have happened to these trees about 20 years ago. This is a group of about 300 trees in Poland. I can’t find nay more information than that – I found the photo posted on Facebook and that is all I know about it.

Global warming

by on Sunday, August 30th, 2009

With all the doom and gloom attached to the global warming outcry, who would of thought that we would have the coolest July on record with only a couple of days over 90 degrees. The month just past was also very wet which makes for very nice weather as far as I am concerned. I love the cool wet weather, and that is not something that I have seen a lot of in my lifetime. I lived in Western Oklahoma for the first 28 years of my life then moved to Arizona for 10 years so the last 11 years in Tennessee have been wonderful as far as the weather is concerned. Let us hope it is another mild winter and then all will be well in my little world.

First hurricane

by on Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

The seasons first hurricane is dropping some rain on us today, it was almost like we were not going to have a hurricane season this year. In a normal year we get affected by 3-4 hurricanes a year and it is late for us to have the first hurricane of the season in August. I do not mind the rain that we get we need it, but the winds make it hard to work at times but today was not bad and I hope the rest of the hurricane season goes just like today.
