Bad day

by on Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Today started out bad I did not feel good when I woke up and it has gotten worse as the day has went by. My grandson stayed the last couple of nights with us and he does not feel good either and for a small kid he is a major grump when he does not feel good. The weather is nice but when I go outside I feel worse, I guess it is from the ragweed and I am just going to stay inside the rest of the day and rest up for the work week ahead. I hope things get better as the rest of the day goes by and I hope it gets better quickly.

Fishing derby

by on Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

This weekend I am taking my six year old grandson to the fishing derby at the near by lake, it will be his first attempt at fishing by himself. He has been a couple of times with us and had a good time. I just hope that he is able to catch some big fish and that he has a great time at this fun event hosted by the Tennessee Fish and game department. I am looking forward to it myself, I think that David will have a lot of fun and I hope that he catches the fishing bug, it is more fun to fish with a buddy than alone.

Like many families in America and Germany on this day in 1944 our families lost a lot of good men. Even though this event was before I was born, it is a day that I have reflected on since I was a small child. My Uncle Lester died on Omaha Beach and is buried in France, I hope one day to go to France to see the beach where so many brave Americans died in the days following the allied assault on Normandy. It was god to see our President visiting the site of the battle this morning and I too hope to go there one day very soon.
