Get Out the Blankets and Jackets

by on Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Holy crap this weather sure turned ugly fast. One day its 90 degrees out and the air conditioner is cranking its heart out. The next day it’s 40 degrees and I’m thinking about turning on the fucking heat.

Most days I don’t even think of a jacket as I head out the door. This morning, that was a big mistake. I thought that the little bit of time I was outside between my front door and the truck door would not be a big deal even it is was a bit nipply. But damn – the chill stayed with me the entire way to work. I am still cold.

Watch me end up getting sick from this fucking weather change. It seems to me that every time we switch from summer to fall the people around here start getting sick with the flu and strep throat. I hate being around sick people – it makes me paranoid as hell. People who are sick need to stay the fuck at home and not be spreading the germs around to the rest of us. Especially the people who work at schools and day care centers, bus drivers, and fast food workers. Keep your germs at home people – I don’t have time for getting sick like you losers.

Life throws us twists

by on Friday, February 3rd, 2012

Every now and then life will throw you a twist. The storms that come in the spring around here are a major twist. Literally because we have a lot of twisters or tornadoes in the spring time and it can be devastating for those who are directly hit.  I am very happy that we have a basement to shelter in. Many people don’t and it is very dangerous. A few years ago we had some really bad floods here in town. I haven’t seen that kind of flood in a long time. I hope very much that I never see another like it again.

This year I cannot even begin to foresee what it will be like. Our winter was very mild and I am sure that our summer is going to be very hot, but the storms, I can only pray are not as bad as last year. My neighbors lost their houses last year from downed trees felled by straight line winds. That isn’t even tornadoes, just strong winds. It can be very scary to deal with such storms for people unaccustomed to it. I really feel for those who live in those mobile homes during the worst of our weather.
